Friends, you are absolutely right that the railways is starting the facility of ticket discounts for senior citizens again from 15 July 2025. Earlier, this discount was given only up to 40% for men and 50% for women, but after the pandemic, it was temporarily discontinued.
Which is now going to be implemented again and some important changes in the rules have also been made by the government, full information of which we will provide you through today’s post.
- Women senior citizens who are above 60 years of age will now be given a discount of 50% by the government.
- Male senior citizens above 60 years of age will now be given a 40% discount by the government.
- Discount on railway tickets will be given only on sleeper and second class tickets.
- Discount is not applicable on Tatkal tickets.
How to book tickets for discount?
- First of all go to the official website or application of IRCTC.
- And after coming here, you have to login successfully by selecting the login option.
- After logging in, you have to select the scheduled date of travel along with the station and coach class.
- After that, a new page will open in which you have to fill the travel details
- And while filling this, you must carefully tick ‘Senior Citizen’.
- Once you tick, the discounted fare will be automatically applied by the system.
- Pay for the concessional ticket and download the ticket.
Who benefited from the exemption?
I would like to inform all of you that under the Senior Citizen Railway Discount, about one crore elderly people are getting benefit from this discount. Basically, those people who enjoy travelling every month for religious or family reasons.
