6% DA Hike for State Employees and Pensioners
In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren at Project Bhawan, the Jharkhand government approved a 6% increase in DA under the unrevised Sixth Pay Commission scale, effective January 1, 2025.
Here’s why this matters:
- Employees under the Sixth Pay Scale will now get 252% DA, up from the previous 246%
- The same hike applies to pensioners and family pensioners under the Fifth and Sixth Pay Commissions
This increase will directly benefit state government workers and retired employees who haven’t shifted to the revised pay scales.
Integrated Pension Scheme Under NPS – A New Option
In another key move, the cabinet cleared a proposal to implement the Integrated Pension Scheme for those still under the National Pension System (NPS).
Here’s how it works:
- Employees who did not opt for the old pension scheme before the government’s cut-off date can now choose this integrated model
- AIS (All India Services) officers under NPS will also be eligible
- The state will contribute under this scheme as per its approved structure
Note: If an employee has already joined the old pension scheme, they cannot switch to this integrated plan.
Major Vehicle Purchase for Police Stations
To boost law enforcement infrastructure, the Jharkhand cabinet approved the purchase of over 2,900 vehicles for police use:
Vehicle Type | Units | Model | Cost per Unit | Total Budget |
---|---|---|---|---|
Four-wheelers | 1,255 | Mahindra Bolero | ₹9.59 lakh approx. | ₹126.38 crore |
Two-wheelers | 1,697 | TVS Apache | ₹1.14 lakh approx. | ₹20.41 crore |
The purchase will be done in two phases and is aimed at strengthening mobility in local police stations.
Green Signal to Two Road Projects in Ranchi
Infrastructure also got a boost with two road projects approved:
- Silli-Banta-Hajam Tikar-Rangamati Road (39 km)
- Riding quality improvement
- Budget: ₹32.70 crore
- Kumhariya Mod to Sangrampur Road (6.33 km)
- Full reconstruction
- Budget: ₹38.90 crore
- Transferred from Rural Works to Road Construction Department
These upgrades are expected to improve rural connectivity and reduce travel time in Ranchi district.
Two Doctors Dismissed for Long-Term Absence
The Health Department’s proposal to dismiss two absentee doctors was also approved:
- Dr. Abhineeti Siddharth (Namkom PHC) – absent since Jan 4, 2021
- Dr. Sneha Singh (Jamtara PHC) – absent since March 1, 2018
However, the dismissal order for Dr. Arvind Kumar Lal, former Civil Surgeon of Jamshedpur, has been revoked following a directive from the Jharkhand High Court.
Monsoon Session Dates Announced
The monsoon session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will be held from August 1 to August 7, 2025. Multiple financial and administrative bills are likely to be discussed during this time.
