This decision is being taken because the date of Muharram depends on the Islamic lunar calendar.

Friends, news is coming out that the government may potentially declare a holiday on Muharram on Sunday, 6 July 2025. However, this day is already a weekly holiday on Sunday, which means that on this day i.e. on the 6th of July 2025, additional holiday will not be provided by the government.
What will happen if Muharram falls on 7 July 2025?
Friends, if we believe in the Islamic lunar calendar, then according to it, the date of Muharram is decided only after seeing the moon. If the moon is seen on 6 July 2025, then it means that the 10th date of Muharram (Ashura) falls on 7 July, then in this situation:-
- Government offices will remain closed across the country.
- Even the bank will not open.
- Post offices will be closed across the country.
- Along with schools, colleges and stock markets will also remain closed.
Due to the closure of many government offices on 7 July 2025, the common citizens of the country will be greatly affected. Due to this, the entire common citizen of India is informed that whatever important government work is to be done, it should be completed on 6 July 2025 or after 8 July 2025.
