In this, information is clearly given about the use of the locker, its security and responsibility in case of loss. The customer will also be able to make a nominee in his locker or can also choose the option of a joint locker.

Will the bank give compensation only in this situation?

It is the responsibility of the bank to ensure the safety of the bank locker. If any damage is caused to the goods or property kept in the locker due to the negligence of the bank, then the bank will compensate for it. This is a great news. This includes theft and robbery or fraud by bank employees.

I would like to tell you that if the Hindustan Directive issued by the Reserve Bank of India is to be believed, then according to it, it has become the moral and legal responsibility of the bank to give proper compensation to the customer in any situation.

How much compensation will be given in case of theft of goods?

If the goods kept in the bank locker are damaged or stolen, the compensation is 100 times the annual rent. This is an important rule which every locker holder must understand.

For example, if the rent is ₹500 per year, then the maximum compensation you will get is up to 5 lakh rupees. This compensation will be ₹500000 only even if the actual value of your goods is more than this.
