Changes in the AICPI Index
The hope of increase in dearness allowance has become stronger due to the increase in All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers. This index was seen at 143 points in the month of March 2025. Which has become 143.5 in the month of April 2025.
In the month of May 2025, it has increased further and has now reached 144. Which is showing a stable increase of 0.5 points. This is a clear indication of inflation going on in the earth and the government decides to change the dearness allowance.
4% growth over-estimate
Friends, looking at the current figures and trends, experts have said that an increase of 0.5 points in AICPI in June 2025 is quite expected. If the trend continues, there is every possibility of an increase in dearness allowance by 4%. Due to this, the dearness allowance which is currently running at 55% will increase and there is every possibility of it reaching 59%.
The increase is going to be a great relief for more than one crore central employees and pensioners. The impact of the increase is going to be visible on the monthly salary and pension.
Time for announcement and clear information on implementation
Friends, the government has not yet made an official announcement regarding the increase in dearness allowance. However, if we look at the pattern of last year, then there is a high possibility of announcement in September or October 2025. If the increase is done before Diwali, then the festival is going to be like a gift for the employee.
The new Dearness Allowance will be considered effective from 1st July 2025. You will know that last time it happened, DA rates were implemented from 1st January 2025. The money received from back date is going to be an additional benefit for the employee.
8th pay commission status
The central government has given in-principle approval for the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission. However, the formal formation of the committee has still not been done. According to media reports, the committee is going to be formed by the last date in the month of August 2025. If the program is completed on time, then there is a high possibility of the Eighth Pay Commission being implemented by mid-2027.
Government employees are hopeful of getting better pay scales along with major changes in the salary structure. But this is a long process and yet the employees are waiting impatiently.
