EPFO Update: Interest for FY 2023-24 Credited, Check PF Balance via SMS or Missed Call

EPFO Update

Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has already credited interest into most EPF accounts — much earlier than expected. Usually, interest is added around August or September. But this year, lakhs of employees started seeing the interest amount reflected in their passbooks as early as July 2025.

What’s the Interest Rate on EPF This Year?

Earlier this year, EPFO announced that the interest rate for the financial year 2023–24 would be 8.15%.

As of now, the Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya confirmed that interest has been credited to over 96% of EPF accounts, covering more than 32.39 crore accounts out of the total 33.56 crore.

That’s a big move—and a big relief for private sector employees relying on PF savings for future planning.

Why This Early Interest Credit Is a Big Deal

You might be wondering — why does it matter if the interest was credited early?

Here’s why:

  • Employees can plan financial goals like investments, EMIs, or savings more confidently
  • It builds trust in the system and strengthens transparency between EPFO and workers
  • It shows how digital upgrades are helping improve government service speed
  • Faster credits reduce confusion or delay-related complaints from members

What to Do If You Haven’t Received the Interest Yet?

If your passbook still doesn’t show interest for FY 2023-24:

  • Contact your employer’s HR or payroll department
  • Call the EPFO helpline: 1800-118-005
  • Ensure your UAN is active, mobile number is linked, and KYC is updated

Sometimes, interest credits are delayed by a few days depending on your regional office or technical errors. But most users should see the balance updated by mid-July 2025.
